Did a 15k race for the first time this morning at Mendon Ponds Park- 9.3 miles. I think it was the biggest race I've participated in up here, had actually about 100 more people than Run for Health last year, with a total of 359 people today. It was a pretty awesome race, and the weather certainly helped. Apparently it's actually a hard course for a 15k, because there are a few hills, but they were mostly gradual so it really didn't seem all too bad. Overall I ended up doing it faster than I thought I would, I went in thinking 75-80 minutes and came out a couple of seconds under 75 minutes. I think also because I didn't try to do a fast first mile, I was able to keep up a 7:45 pace for probably the first 4 miles, and ended up with I think my best 10k time at the 10k mark, 49 minutes (actually the guy who finished first did the whole 15k in 49 minutes).

Two other running club people went, Bryce ended up getting 3rd in his age group at 66 minutes, and Dave finished only 36 seconds behind him.

Doesn't feel so great right now, but it was the most I've ever run consecutively, so not too bad considering. I have a feeling I'm going to end up doing a half marathon before the end of the year (not the school year), since it wouldn't be a huge step up from 9 miles if I can keep the training up. I'm not sure how much I'll actually race in the next few years though, because they really are kind of expensive, and that can add up really fast. It is fun though, especially with a good community, and Rochester is surprisingly good for that.

Now for crap tons of work!
