Dec. 23rd, 2007 01:46 amWell, didn't expect it, but we managed to kill yet another power supply, sometimes it seems like we go through them a little too quickly. For the most part it's been because they're usually the cheap ones that come with $20 cases, but this time it was the Antec SL400 in my main desktop. Since replacing the motherboard I've been real happy that it actually turns on like it should, so I was kinda surprised when I brought it in here, plugged it in and it did nothing. Caps still sound like they're charging, since you can hear them discharge, but it seems that a few years and a very thick coating of dust burned something out. I didn't open it yet, although I think It's probably safe to do so since I don't have the original paperwork for warranty stuff (I think it's been more than 3 years anyway, I originally got it from Antec as a warranty replacement for a dead one I got on ebay).
Unfortunately my only spare with the aux 12v connector is in my brother's system now since the 300w cheap one in there before wasn't quite going to do it for an X2 6000 and 8600gts....
Too bad I didn't grab that 460w one I saw when SEAL was 'auctioning' some of the working stuff that they got from electronics recycling on Thursday.
