Hmm.. for all the Kannagi hype, I really don't think it was all that great. There was definitely some potential, but they ended up making it almost entirely about the tsundere-ness of a single character. It wasn't bad, but I've been enjoying Toradora more. Initially people were comparing it to Ah! My Goddess because of the obvious similarity- god(dess) who comes to live with a helpless guy- but I couldn't even put into words how much more substance there is in Ah! My Goddess. I'd have rather they put the resources that went into Kannagi into more of that truthfully. Heck, I'd even go as far as saying that Belldandy can actually kinda be tsundere- not really to Keiichi so much, but oh man when she's angry.

All I have to say is that even the RIT Women's Center agreed that she was indeed not submissive and unempowering toward women. (I still may be the only person to find that amusing? We need a better club history record, and that needs to be recorded in it.)

Its kind of easy for people who are not familiar with the show to think that Belldandy is "unempowering". She is an idealized woman--loyal, caring, innocent, a great cook, keeps the home (or in this case, temple) clean, etc. However, she isn't submissive. She does these things because she wants to, not because she is being forced or even asked. And she can definitely hold her own in a fight. Although the television series has only begun to cover the manga, she does develop a more assertive personality over time as well.
