Springfest Free Food Raid 2007
May. 3rd, 2007 12:32 pmOk, as I started last year, here's where I'm planning to hit up tomorrow for free food. Unfortunately this year's springfest comes at a time when I have a good deal of work to do (even if I end up withdrawing from Genetic Engineering, unfortunate as that would be, there are a few projects I really should be working on) so I'm not sure what else I'll be able to partake in aside from the food.
So first up we have the ETC end of year party from 11:00 - 1:30, expecting the usual Dibella's subs, cookies, and soda.
Following that, the College of Science Picnic is from 12:30 - 2:00 which should have normal barbeque stuff, except they usually also have fruit and bags of chips as well.
The SG barbeque is 2:30 - 4 out on the quarter mile. I may skip this because I don't really need 3 lunches, and this will probably have the longest line (although they may be not having it at lunch time to reduce the demand).
I believe Pizza Wars is happening tomorrow too, and I think that's at 5 pm, but might be at 7.
So that's four opportunities for free food tomorrow. Sunday will be Karen's Walk, which should have the normal race food, usually day old bagels and bananas and oranges which is always pretty awesome after a race. Nothing like putting back twice as many calories as you just burned.
Although I would have liked to go the Ben Fold's concert on Saturday night, I think it may be sold out, and if it isn't I don't really want to have to spend the little money I have on that. Additionally I really should do work whenever I can.
Twenty-five days until we leave for Japan, there are still a few things left to do, really only getting the host family gift, and buying a 7-day JR pass (but I have to do that in the middle of this month so it won't expire before I want to use it). Other than that I think I'm set. I'm somewhat concerned that I'll have to get new shoes again before I leave since these aren't fairing so well and I'm having issues with the running shoes even though there's only 150 miles on them (I've run 39 times since December, I've been keeping track of mileage everytime I run since I got the shoes). I'm planning on still running when I'm over there, at least a few times a week (maybe in the morning before it's 100 degrees?) since that would be nice, and I really doubt that we'll have that many hours of class a day. Probably shouldn't be too hard to find someone else who wants to run too, would be interesting practicing Japanese while tunning. Could be kind of neat to find races over there, but I don't think they're quite as zealous about that as we are here (specifically in Rochester, the number of road races that happen in a year is quite staggering, http://www.grtconline.org/Racecal.html there's a ton of them).
At any rate, I'm still planning on keeping a journal of my experience (as often as seems reasonable) at http://www.japantrip.fivefeetdeep.com/ athough not much is there quite yet, and It's still got the default nucleus skin since I didn't get a chance to change it (tried but didn't get too far). So yeah, I'm gonna finish this coffee and then go do something.
edit:
The third novel of Crest of the Stars happens to come out Saturday, which also happens to be Free Comic Book Day, so it should be interesting venturing to Hammergirl then to pick that up (hopefully they'll have it, I should have asked Luke earlier).
