Nov. 26th, 2004 10:02 pmin a hotel in syracuse right now.. first hotel that ive been in thats had free wireless access while ive had this laptop (ok well we dont go anywhere very often and usually end up in cheap places) and its pretty neat since its faster than dialup (im thinking they have a T1 for here, did a traceroute and it went from at&t to level3 communications so it could also be some sort of dsl but its decent) and there isnt a fee after the first hour or so for the local call that there usually is when ive tired dialing in locally when we're at places. anyway we're going to RIT tommorrow, probably sometime in the morning, today we went from massachusetts pretty much straight to here, although sorta stopping along the way to try to go up to mount greylock in massachusetts but the vehicle path to summit was closed and it would have been kind of out of the way to hike up there (although I think a fewyears ago when we went backpacking on the appalachian trail i think we were on it? maybe not.. we were on one of the highest points in some state..) and after we got here we went to the 'lights on the lake' in the park on the lake around here which is one of the big holiday light setup thingys and it was pretty long, although not quite as intricate as the one in oglebe park in west virginia.. anyway I thought id write something because it seems i usually end up updating from hotels before going to school and i might as well keep that up. we sorta had band practice on wednesday and played like a song and a half and some blues improv for a while which is always kind of fun but we didnt really have enough time to get into it before we ended up stopping and eating and didnt play after that, which was kind of interesting to move all the drums there and back for playing for only a little while but i think it was still kind of worth it anyway since its always exersice.. hopefully next time we practice we'll end up playing more :) i think i got a bit better with the double bass stuff although hopefully it'll fit ok into some of our songs.. kinda messed with the drum module a bit, although when i get back to school ill see how useful it'll be since i have the midi cable (since i think its agreed that the module's only good sounds are some of the funky electronic ones) and ill have to mess with the trigger placement on the drums and some other material between the drum and trigger to absorb the extra vibration thats currently causing multiple triggering. anyway hi people.
