stuff

i find im checking livejournals for updates almost as often as email when possible, which is odd. I was at school today for 11 hours.. met with ben leib in the morning and talked about audio stuff for next year.. started on the vaio repair mission.. of course as soon as i found the system restore disks for the computer on the left the one in the middle decided hal.dll (hardware abstraction layer) to become corrupt.. tried a bunch of bootdisks and ntfs reader programs that would allow a file to be copied from floppy to an ntfs drive but to no avail so i just did an xp repair install.. and then another 2 hours of installing windows patches because the windows update site is being flooded by people trying to patch for the slammer worm.. and service pack 1 always takes forever to install anyway. I also reconnected everything for the video system which had been moved to landaus old office and made surethe hard drives were still ok so all the video stuff is set for now although i still havent heard about the 2 missing cameras and the panasonic was missing today along with a tripod but im guessing that case that someone borrowed it and will bring it back.. also replaced the motherboard in the netvista that was having problems. I almost feel in some way that the computers at wooster are my children or something and I have to care for them and thus I do.. some of the computers ive 'known' for a while too.. I think i feel that way about alot of computers and stuff.. only difference is that you cant RMA parts from human children... nor can you sell them on ebay. well legally at least. all those who have not updated windows recently i suggest you do because the w32.blaster worm is really widespread now.. windows update will most likely be slow because theres alot of traffic right now but its probably worth the wait. this is only really important if youre running win2k or xp..
