Hello! This is the week of recording for us in da deep end... we're hoping to get at least enough for one cd done by the end of the week because by the next time we have a chance to record it will be too late to really do anything for a while... so on monday we set levels on drums mostly and partially decided how we would go about recording everything... we got some stuff done on tuesday as well.. and started on a new song from brian and a new song from meredith.. we always have so many new songs that im worried that some are going to get lost somewhere... actually merediths newest song only has music for the chorus so far but its so good that i think we could probably just use the music for that one section for the whole song but i think after a while somone would notice... its got a good feel to it.. so today i ended up staying here and finishing the college surveys and (argh this kvm freezes sometimes) we went to the mall and a few other places.. got a 4-led headlamp for the camping trip.. had chicken tarriyaki from sushi express... by the way ive got an 8 minute long mp3 from yesterday of just me playing drums http://68.63.111.50/drumstuff.mp3 just kinda messing around so i could test levels and because i wastrying to figure out if the snare was ringing out too much; all of a sudden yesterday i started thinking that the snare sounded different than it used but im not sure its probably just because i was wearing different headphones so it sounded like it was ringing out more.. it doesnt sound bad i guess its a good drum and better than the old snare lol.. we've got 7 mics total on drums (bass drum, snare, 2 toms, floor tom, and then 2 condensers on the symbals) which go into the carvin studiomate mixer which are recorded in stereo.. the snare mic also is going through a tube preamp before going to the mixer to give it a slightly warmer sound.. we're also all wearing headphones so that the drum mics dont pick up the vocals and we seperated the guitar amp in a different room with a large blanet between so we wouldnt have as much guitar being picked up by the drum mics.. since we've got $10 vocal mics we're going to be re-recording vocals after using the condensers because it sounds sooo much better.. if anyone has any other questions about our studio setup or equipment just ask.. soo um yeah last night i also finished watching Ai Yori Aoshi (with the exceptiong of 2 episodes in the midle which didnt finish downloading yet) which is a romantic comedy that is in many ways similar to Love Hina (which is a really great show) but i had the same problem that i have usually with romantic comedy anime- i really always look for some sort of closure in the ending and there almost never is.. so i was very happy when i was searching the animenation news archives this morning and found that theres a second series of Ai Ypri Aoshi set to air in japan this fall! yay! i may finally find what i have been searching for... meanwhile anyone that knows anything else similar to ranma/love hina/ai yori aoshi please say so :) i also kinda consider full metal panic romantic comedy.. full metal panic covers alot of genres though.. action/drama/mech/comedy/romantic comedy... hmm what else is there that i could say... this computer is making an additional high-pitched noise that i dont think i heard earlier although i have yet to investigate..i will as soon as im done with this.. probably a hard drive, maybe the bearings wearing out on the ibm 30gb.. just sent the one back from the video computer at school since it was making an awfully loud noise but that drive kept testing out fine..so yeah umm a few days ago meredith made another song using some differnt vocal samples of my brother using the hour-long cd i gave her and thats up at the "alex is a runner" homepage (http://68.63.111.50/alexisarunner). I also have the extra mini episode thingy of chobits entitled 'chibits' on that server but i wont post the link here since its 40mb and that would distrurb my brothers unreal-playing right now so if you want that just ask :)i guess thats it for now... more recording tommorrow, hopefully jessie will be there! :)
